We have become a leader in supplying hand tied flies. All of our flies and tackle are manufactured in north west Michigan. Our locality places us in the middle of Steelhead, Salmon and Trout country, which is reflected in our line of Trout and Salmon flies. We think that you will be pleased, as many others are.

  We have many years of experience and have been recognized for our quality products in Michigan Fisherman by Ken Darwin, Flies for Steelhead by Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen, Michigan Trout Streams, A Fly Anglers Guide by Bob Linsenman and Steve Nevala. We have also been featured on  Angler's Diary with Ron Peterson.

  We also provide the fly fisherman patterns for other species as well. Including Bass, Pike and Panfish. The love of the sport drives our commitment to quality and we hope that we can help you enjoy the sport as well.

  Aries Tackle was founded in 1985 by Jeff Bower, in order to provide quality flies for the fresh water fly fisherman. Specifically in the Great Lakes Regions. Aries Tackle, in the beginning, was strictly a manufacturer that dealt with a system of distributors through out the country. Providing quality flies for all fresh water species, but concentrating on Steeelhead and Salmon patterns. Due mostly to Jeff's love of the sport of these fish and the lack of a commercial tier geared to the fishermen who took these species on a fly rod.

  With an expanding interest in fly fishing Aries Tackle opened a retail outlet in 1989. Jeff chose a village named Thompsonville, Michigan. It was geographically correct due to the position on the upper Betsie River, with the Platte River to the north and the Manistee River to the south. With the many, many tributaries holding trout which make up these three major rivers systems.

  This now made it possible for Jeff to be face to face with the people that use his products on a regular basis and to share his knowledge of the sport and of the area. This also allowed him to expand into other aspects of the outdoor sports and to provide more of his knowledge in other arenas in the fishing world. Jeff now provides tying classes, speaks at shows and organizations and authors articles for different monthly publications.
